Costs
At HiCondo, we believe it is important that all costs are clear and transparent. Below you will find an overview of the main costs associated with renting an independent student apartment.
Registration Fee
To be considered for an apartment, you must register through our website. The registration fee is €25.00, which can be paid during registration via iDEAL or credit card.
If an apartment is assigned to you, the registration fee will be deducted from your first month’s rent.
Rent
The monthly rent varies depending on the type of apartment. On the apartment type page you will find the exact rent and an example calculation of the total monthly costs.
Service Costs
If you rent an independent student apartment at HiCondo, you will pay monthly service costs in addition to the rent. These costs consist of several components.
The service costs are structured as follows:
– €139.00 general and additional service costs
– €88.50 heating, water, electricity and internet
The total service costs amount to €227.50 per month.
This amount is a monthly advance payment, which is paid together with the rent. At the end of the year, a final settlement will be made based on the actual usage and costs.
Depending on the outcome, you may need to pay an additional amount, or you may receive a refund.
Security Deposit
When signing the rental agreement, you are required to pay a security deposit equal to two months of basic rent. This deposit will be returned after the rental period ends, provided that the apartment is left in good condition and all obligations have been fulfilled.
Insurance
As a resident of a HiCondo student apartment, you are required to take out contents insurance. This insurance covers damage to your personal belongings in the apartment.
The building insurance is arranged by HiCondo and covers damage to the building itself.
Municipal Taxes and Charges
Municipal taxes and charges are not paid through HiCondo. You will receive these invoices directly from the Municipality of Amsterdam.
As a student, you can often apply for tax relief (exemption) for certain municipal taxes. However, for some charges, such as the sewer charge, exemption is usually not possible.
These taxes and charges may include:
– sewer charge
– waste collection charge
– water pollution charge
– tenant’s part of the property tax
More information about these taxes and charges can be found on the website of the Municipality of Amsterdam: www.amsterdam.nl
Laundry Room
The complex has a laundry room available for residents, which is accessible 24 hours a day.
The costs per wash or drying cycle are:
– 7 kg washing machine: €5.00
– 13 kg washing machine: €9.00
– Dryer: €3.00
